Yes. Although rare, shingles can recur. Vaccination helps reduce your risk each time.

Q. What if I’ve already had shingles?

You can still get vaccinated to reduce the chance of it happening again.

Q. Are there any side effects?

Most people experience mild pain or redness at the injection site. Flu-like symptoms are possible for a day or two.

Q. Is the vaccine suitable if I’ve never had chickenpox?

If you’re unsure, we can advise you. Most adults in the UK have had chickenpox, even if they don’t remember.
